Make Mistakes

I've been so busy that I forgot to post my other outfit from my fourth of July trip to the beach....

The dress originally had very large, almost puffy looking sleeves. I hated how it made me look so broad and it completely bypassed my waist making it look like a paper bag.  I have no idea why I had bought it to begin with.

I think it's because somewhere, deep in my subconscious, I knew it had potential....

It sat in my closet for about a year when I decided that this "mistake" could actually turn into a good thing. I loved the print and have nothing in my closet that even comes close to it. So, I took the dress to a seamstress. What did I have to lose? She totally made it flatter me! We cut the sleeves and took in the waist a bit. And on top of it all, it only cost me about 30$ to save the dress!!! Hooray!!

In life and in fashion, sometimes a mistake can be the key to unlocking something fabulous;)

**PS DONT FORGET... MANY LAYERS MONDAY IS BACK ON THIS WEEK!!

  1. I LOVE when that happens. You think something is ready to be taken to goodwill, and with a little TLC, it's as good as new (even better sometimes.) This dress is fabulous on you. I am a HUGE fan of belts so if I had this number I'd totally pair it with a fun red belt...
